Can we apply for individual exhibits instead of the group exhibits?
We would prefer to keep the groups of exhibit commissions together. You can apply for just one group or for more than one group of commissions, whatever plays to your strengths and interests.
The only exception is the film commission group, where there are some more specialist individual exhibits and you can apply for just one or more than one exhibit within the film grouping.
You will be expected to demonstrate capacity to deliver the work you apply for on budget and within the deadline for delivery.
Can we subcontract work if we are applying as individuals?
Yes, you must list subcontractors or collaborators if you are working as a collective and you will be expected to administer their work within the fixed budget fee stated.
Content
Is the content in the exhibit briefs fixed?
Yes – in that we have locked off on the questions that the exhibits are exploring and the key message that we need them to convey. We are open to creative solutions to the briefs, within budget and stated hardware and physical design concepts, which are also fixed and signed off with our fabricators.
How long will exhibits be part of the exhibition for?
These are permanent exhibits – the funding we have received requires the exhibition to last for 8 years. In communication with the original artist, We the Curious reserves the right to update or remove exhibits for maintenance or Health and Safety or content update reasons during their lifetime.
Who is the audience for these exhibits?
Exhibits must engage and be appropriate for a broad family audience, and content must adhere to our accessibility and ethical guidelines.
What is the sign off process?
We the Curious will provide clear briefs, and be available for guidance and input where requested, and will agree a timeline with check in milestones and final sign off on all commissioned content.
Are the budgets negotiable?
No - these are fixed budgets, but how you allocate the money within your budget is flexible, in agreement with We the Curious.
Who will supply the hardware?
We the Curious' will supply all hardware via an AV integrator chosen for the project
We the Curious will supply all the screens for the exhibits and for user testing.
